It was hard to leave this morning after having had such a great visit with Jan and her family. We felt very at home with them, and they were all so gracious. We gave hugs around (a couple of times) before finally loading up, and then Nathan had to stop once more at D'Lish to grab some huckleberry shakes for the road. What a yummy local treat! MMMM!!
The trip through Idaho has been amazing! Martha and Dion suggested that we take 95 down the length of ID. We were warned that it would take a little longer but that the scenery would be worth it. Boy, were they right! We found an interesting bed and breakfast along the way, and although we have been posting lots of mountain pictures, each set of mountains that we have come across have had their own unique characteristics. These had grasslands with some trees and jutting rocks bordered by rushing mountain streams and rivers.
It began raining and misting some, and by the time we got onto I84 we had spotted a full rainbow. It was beautiful, and the further we traveled the brighter it got - looking like neon lights erupting from the ground! We even saw a couple of double rainbows. We were rainbow chasers for a good hour. Sadly these pictures don't even begin to do the colors and intensity justice. You might find the double rainbows if you look closely at some of these pictures. The picture looking out the windshield with a truck in the next lane has a glimmer of the rainbow that we drove through. For awhile we were driving along in the colors on the road at the end of one of our rainbows. But the leprechauns must have beat us to the gold 'cause we found none. :(
As we left the reflections of the rainbows, we found the moon shining out from the clouds with a pure blue sky directly above it. All of this led to a beautiful sunset. As we pulled into Twin Falls, ID tonight the moon was shining brilliantly between the clouds! What a picturesque day!!
