Making up for lost time

We have been busy catching up with Jan and getting to know her folks better. Yesterday after breakfast Jan, Samuel, Caleb and I all went to the park where we rode a sky lift over the river, fed a garbage goat and some seagulls and played on the world's largest Radio Flyer wagon and enjoyed the lovely downtown Spokane. Nathan and Taylor went with Will out to Annie & Dion's (Jan's older sister & b-i-l)house to help build a porch. While the men were working, Taylor and Levi (Jan's nephew) had a blast making rope swings and playing with Lego's. Jan had to work yesterday afternoon so we got some naps in before Nathan, Taylor and Will got back. Then while Nathan caught some Zs, I had a chance to sit and visit with Martha. We met Jan as she was getting off and had dinner and visited a bit before heading to bed.

This morning we got up and went to church with the family. After church Jan went to work and Will and Martha had some errands so we headed out on our own to check out Spokane. We found a presidential rail car that had been converted to Frank's Diner and had lunch therebefore doing a little shopping. We headed back to the house and caught another nap (This trip is beginning to catch up to us!) before heading out to the park across the street to fly kites. Will and Martha were just returning, so they came over and helped us in our quest to get all three kites up for the boys. We played until time for Jan to get off and then drove to the theater were she works. She was so sweet and got tickets for the six of us to see Anderson and Roe and the Duo Pianos. The program said they were like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers on the keys. They had such enthusiasm and spunk as they played. They boys seemed thrilled too and were eager to get their autographs after the concert. We rushed to find a restaurant still open and grabbed a bite before heading back to the house. Poor Jan has to work again in the morning, and we have kept her up until after 1 a.m. again! We are having such a good time though visiting with her and her folks!

(For those who are familiar with Princess Bride. We encountered the Fire Swamps at Yellowstone as we hiked the geyser trail and had geysers erupt around us, and in Spokane we have found evidence of the R-O-U-Ses!)
